Story
I’m raising money to help other people with sight loss that need support. I have optic neuritis, which causes progressive deterioration of my sight.
I experienced a difficult time when my eyesight deteriorated more rapidly following a TIA. I was experiencing difficulty doing basic tasks and had to start using specialist equipment.
I was offered a place on RNIB’s ‘Finding Your Feet’ residential programme. It helps people to live more confidently with sight loss. I went into the programme feeling very anxious about my future with sight loss however within one day I was relaxed and, although the future was going to be very difficult, the programme made me aware that there were many opportunities available to have a positive future.
Finding Your Feet was a life-changer for me. It opened so many doors. I dread to think where I might be now without it. I certainly don’t think I’d be working.
Now I’m positive, I don’t look backwards –only forwards.
