Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For years and years I have had a (crazy?) dream about cycling across America. Now I am retired, I feel very privileged to have the opportunity (time, health and money) to make this dream possible.
The route I am following is a little over 4000 miles - starting at Yorktown in Virginia, and ending at Astoria in Oregon. It's about 75 days of cycling (with weekly rest days on top), so averaging about 55 miles a day. I fly to the States on 18 May.
At first I thought it would be an imposition on friends and family to seek sponsorship but lots of people have told me I ought to. I have therefore chosen to support The Stroke Association. Two and a half years ago, my brother in law David had a major stroke - turning his life, and Tessa's, his wife's, upside down.
The trip will be even more meaningful and special for me knowing that I will be raising money for The Stroke Association, so that more people who have been through what Tessa and David have will be supported.
Please might you donate something? Because I am cycling about 4000 miles, I would love to achieve a target of raising £4000 - a pound a mile. I hope though that generous people will take the total well past that!
In case you need reassuring about the JustGiving system, donating through it is simple, fast and totally secure. Please do tick for Gift Aid so your donation is maximised.
And thank you SO much!
