Story
About my challenge and my inspiration:
I have decided to take another challenge in aid of Weldmar Hospice, this time I will be trekking in Madagascar.
The hospice is such a well-loved and deserving charity, they give so much end of life help and support to the patient and also their families.
I would like to remember 3 wonderful people who sadly left us too soon, but were cared for by the wonderful team at Weldmar.
Sara Harper was a dear friend of mine who sadly passed away in 1999 aged only 27. Sara was such a bright light and she is still so sadly missed.
Mel Ferguson (Dakin) who lost her battle with cancer in 2021. She was a great advocate of Weldmar Hospicecare and the inspiration that began my fundraising for Weldmar.
My son Rafferty’s best friend Lucy also lost her beloved dad Keith Readings last year. Lucy said: “Weldmar helped me come to terms with something I didn’t want to, as it was such a safe environment”.
So this fundraising campaign and subsequent challenge is for Sara, Mel and Keith and for all of those who have benefitted from the love and support of this fantastic charity.
This epic challenge will take place in November 2024. It includes a trek through Andringitra National Park and a summit attempt on the islands second highest peak Pic Bobby as well as working on a community project in the country's capital Antananarivo.
I pledged to raise £4600 for Weldmar Hospice. With your fantastic support I have reached my goal will continue to fundraise for Weldmar. x
