Story
Most of my close friends and family will know that dad had suffered with lung conditions all of his life.
Over the last couple of years dad lungs had deteriorated, he had been in and out of hospital more with his breathing and other issues which were getting worse , after lots of tests and more scans he was then diagnosed with Aspergillosis” a rare lung condition. The years of covid delayed dad getting some of these extra test done, he never made a fuss he just got on with it coping in the best way he could with mum by his side. ♥️
In December 2022 dad was admitted to The Royal Brompton Hospital,Chelsea London, for what was meant to be a week of tests and to see the top consultants to come home with treatment that would of helped him . Unfortunately whilst in hospital his breathing got worse and he was admitted to Intensive care where the most amazing nurses and doctors cared for him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week , we can never thank them enough for what they did for dad and us as a family.
On 14th January 2023 dad was no longer strong enough to fight and with mum, my sister Gemma and myself by dads side, Dad sadly passed away Peacefully. 😢
As a family the devastation is something that we cannot and will never get over.
To help me get through the toughest times of my life, I took myself away to run, where I could grieve and take time out, so with that in mind I made the decision “I had to make some good out of this sadness” so with support and A Big thank you to the Aspergillosis’ Trust I secured a place in the London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 7th 2024
So ….. since May last year I have been running ,come what ever the British weather throws at me ….. rain, freezing cold … heatwaves … winds …. training to get to get ready to raise money for a charity that needs every penny to raise awareness of this disease.
Every day as I get ready to go out on my training sessions, I warm up in front of my dads photos stretching and doing whatever I can to warm up these old bones of mine …I can hear him saying “Good god Kelly, you don’t have to do this for me “ obviously as a true child I ignore those thoughts 🤣
Family WAS everything to dad and I know he would be so proud of us all and how we are all coping together to help our mum get through the toughest times ever. The photo I have of him is on our Mollies Prom he was so proud of all his Grandchildren with our special mum by his side. 🥰
So with this in mind, please give as little or as much as you can to help a charity so close to our hearts ♥️.
