Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 7th of April 2010 my Dad Peter Varty passed away as a result of coronary heart disease. Five weeks later on the 12th May 2010 my Gran Lily Wyse also passed away as a result of coronary heart disease. Within this short space of time I lost the most inspirational people in my life and I told myself I would do something in their memory therefore I will be running the following events to raise money for British Heart Foundation:
·Great Scottish Run 10K on 04/09/11 Completed in 51:13
·Great Edinburgh Run 10K on 02/10/11 Completed in 49:28
· Kilomathon 13.1K on 01/04/12 Completed in 1:03:38
· Edinburgh Half Marathon 21K on 27/05/12 Completed in 1:47:05
· Great Scottish Run Half Marathon on 02/09/12 Completed in 1:46:57
· Great North Run Half Marathon on 16/09/12 Completed in 1:44:18
As I had never ran longer than a 50 meter dash for an ice cream van I will be increasing the distance that I will be running over time.
The mission of British Heart Foundation is to play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death. With the loss of my Dad and Gran in 2010, with 124,000 heart attacks in the UK every year and with nearly 2.7 million people in the UK with coronary heart disease I feel that the British Heart Foundation is a worthwhile cause that is close to my heart.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you think I am running for a good cause please dig deep and donate now as all proceeds will help British Heart Foundation make a difference. Please feel free to tell others who feel strongly about heart disease about this page.
Since starting this challenge I have ran over 831 kilometers.
