Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I am captain of the Leicestershire and Rutland Irish Golf Society (don't ask) and there is a fundraising element to the job. I am sure that we have all been affected by cancer in some way or another. In my case the death of a former work colleague and dear friend, Warwick Shipstone, provided the impetus to take on the challenge of this bike ride and raise much needed funds for two charities. Coping With Cancer provides support for sufferers, family and friends and Hope Against Cancer is involved in research into the prevention of cancer. Any money pledged on this page will go directly to Hope Against Cancer, but money raised elsewhere will be used to even up the donations between the two charities.
Day one of the bike ride starts in Whitehaven and involves 63 miles through parts of the Lake District to Kirkoswald. Day 2 is the toughest day, 42 miles over the Pennines to Rookhope. Day 3 starts with a 5 mile climb but then it's down hill to the coast.
There are four of us involved, golfing friends Nick Cunningham and Dave Williams and, a much fitter nephew, Craig McAughtrie.
We will do it!
