Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am joining some like-minded friends in attempting to climb Kilimanjaro in January 2014. I knew when asked that this would be a challenge for me but I consider it better to try than not to try at all! The decision being made, I would like to use the opportunity to raise some money for charity.
Some of you will know that I am a Rotarian; of late, Disaster Aid UK + Ireland (a Rotary Charity) has been hard pressed to help meet the needs of those impacted by natural disasters (such as the typhoons in the Philippines) with family kits containing a tent along with basic essentials to generate clean water and keep warm.
These kits also enable temporary schools and triage stations to be set up which all helps to start those affected to re-build their communities and their lives.
This is the first time I have tried to raise money for charity via this sort of personal challenge however, you know that when I set my mind to do something, I will do my upmost to succeed. I recognise that my physiology may be beaten by the altitude but I am not going to be beaten for trying and this is where you all come in.
Please donate as much or little as you can to help me make this a meaningful and successful experience. With your encouragement I will get to the top of the mountain - all 19,341 feet of it!
Thank you for your support and the help, albeit small, for those far less fortunate than ourselves.
