Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It's here where I try to share why I decided to a) run a marathon and b) run it for the NSPCC.
Let's take (a). After a few months of dedicated sitting in prone positions and lifting wine glasses, I'm finding that I need something a bit better to get me into a state of fitness that will ensure I get to see potential grandchildren. Obviously I know that lethargy and debauchery are not the most reliable ways to achieve this, so the motivation of running a marathon is something that might (will?) get me out pounding pavements and shedding cholesterol.
So(b), why the NSPCC? Over the past 15 years I've worked almost exclusively with people who were hurt when they were young. I find the idea of people being cruel or neglectful to those who can't look after themselves repellent and I want to do what I can to ensure fewer of the next generation experience the abuse those I work with did. By the time I'm working with people they tend to have learned that the world won't help them, people can't be trusted and even those who are supposed to help tell them their personalities are disordered. Anything I can do do help those children or raise awareness of the work of NSPCC will be great.
Do consider donating. If you want to join the 1% club (a donation of £22 or more) I'll give you a special shout out on social media. If you or a group can do anything to help me or help spread the word do get in touch.
In 2008 I ran the London marathon with a time of 4hrs 30 minutes. Let's see what an extra 14 years and 3 stone can do to reduce that time.
Thanks for visiting. If you can please donate, if you can't please share. Many thanks,
Keir
