Help rebuild the CRUK Manchester Institute after fire

Story

On Wednesday 26 April there was a fire on the roof of the Paterson building in Withington, Manchester.

The building is home to cancer researchers from the CRUK Manchester Institute and The University of Manchester. They work tirelessly to develop better ways of diagnosing and treating cancer - in particular leukaemia, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer - as well as improving radiotherapy and proton therapy. On top of the labs, the facility contains microscopes and high-tech kit for genetic sequencing, cell sorting and mass spectrometry.

The immediate impact is that these scientists are now looking for alternative accommodation. Researchers in the MCRC building (who look into lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer and breast cancer) are also affected by the loss of core services. They all need your help to make sure that this vital work can carry on.

The research in Manchester is world-leading. Your generosity is appreciated.
