Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Dear Friends - this year on May 15, I am turning 50!  To mark the occasion, Claude and I have decided to walk 50k both in the UK and Canada to raise money for the Marie Curie Foundation and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) respectively.

In the decade since my 40th, several of my friends have battled with cancer and happily most have survived.  However, one of my closest friends, Julie Murray died after a four-year battle and so the UK walk will be in her memory.  At the same time, the last ten years have brought many new additions to our circle and again some have experienced serious health issues.  So, our Canadian walk will be in honour of our grand-niece Alice Paradis, whose life was saved by the medical staff at CHEO.

From May 24-27, Claude and I will tackle part of the Dales Way from Kettlewell to Sedbergh.  We hope to raise £1,000 and ask that you consider donating £5, £15 or £50 via this site or by texting KMJM50 and the amount to 70070.

The Canadian walk will take place later in the year, probably on Cape Breton. Our target is $500.  Donations to CHEO can be made in the name of "Alice Paradis" at: https://www.cgiottawa.com/CHEODonation/

Thank you in advance/Merci beaucoup à l'avance!

Katrina
