Story
Helloooo all, thanks for visiting my page :)
I’m attempting to walk from Land's End in Cornwall to Scotland - hopefully all the way to John O Groats if time permits - and I'm raising money for Refugee Action. I’ll be carrying my gear (my rucksack weighs a ton, RIP my back) and camping most of the way. My route is approx 2000km, so the maths says I’ll be walking 30-35km per day for the next two months . . . don’t worry, the blister plasters are already packed.
I'm raising money for the incredible charity Refugee Action, who provide support for asylum seekers and refugees living in the UK. They help people navigate the tortuous asylum system, and then help integrate refugees into communities if asylum is granted. They relentlessly campaign for fundamental change to the asylum system and are one of the few organisations trying to hold the government to account over their refugee policies. They're a really brilliant charity who make a tangible difference to the lives of asylum seekers and refugees.
Am I little bit terrified? Absolutely. Have I done enough training not to cripple my body in the first week? Probably not. Am I excited? Hell yes. I have no idea how my body will survive, if I’ve wildly overestimated how far I can walk and whether I can remember which way is north on a map. But a friend (thanks Ellie Perkin) has promised me many a beer if I make it which is pretty much all the motivation I need! However, any donations to Refugee Action are really really really appreciated and help them to keep providing their much needed services.
Thank you
Katie xxx
