London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Last summer I ran a half marathon for Macmillan straight after I knew I wanted to run a full one because the experience was so rewarding.

Deciding which charity to run it for wasn’t hard because through experiences of someone close to me I know how much of a difference they can make to what is a really challenging time. They fund wards all over the country for those aged 16-24. The wards aren’t just ordinary hospital wards, they have games rooms, hang out areas and lots of activities to do such as baking. Which makes it feel less like a hospital. They also fund specialist trained nurses for teenagers this means the gap between paediatric care and adult care is less of an issue. The best way to describe the nurses in the ward would be super caring and attentive as they are always there for any advice. You can’t always be side by side to someone suffering with cancer specially since covid so knowing whilst they are in hospital they are getting the best possible support makes the world of difference.

I am super excited to raise money for such an important charity to me. So I’m asking all my friends/family and anyone willing to donate if you could empty your change pockets for me and support me along the way Xx
