We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

We simply cannot thank Marie Curie and their Rapid Response Team enough for the help and care they gave my Grandma in her final days at home before her death. The emotional advice and support was truly amazing and we really couldnt have asked for anymore. They responded to our calls within minutes and were there 24 hours a day regardless of how big or small our query was or even if we just needed advice. Nothing was a problem to them.

These ladies are unsung heroes and deserve everything and more. Special thanks goes to my Auntie Joanne a Marie Curie Nurse and also a loving daughter in law to my Grandma who is alongside me walking this event. This makes it even more special to me. Not only has she been my Auntie for 29 years, she has guided the family through one of the toughest things we could ever do and remained so strong despite it being so personal and tough for her. She provided 24 hour a day care for Grandma and also trained us all on how we could help too. We really couldn't have done it without her.

We are looking to fundraise as much as we can and anything you contribute today we are so grateful for however big or small. You don't know what's round the corner in life but we know one thing. This horrible disease will hopefully one day have a cure. Until then, this team will work round the clock to help families out there. We are using this date as a fundraiser but also as a celebration. Grandma Joan's birthday is 23rd April so this will make it all the more special to our family.

Tammy Ross is also joining us on our walk in memory of her own family members who she has lost through this disease. I’m honoured to be doing this walk with these two amazing ladies. Marie Curie is a fantastic charity and it helped massively when we lost David Ross, grandad to my twins early this year. David was a regular walker so doing a walk in his memory means a lot to me.  Any donation however small means Marie Curie can continue to support and care for loved ones and their families at a difficult time.  They really do help families cope and go above and beyond.
