Story
Hey all,
Firstly, sponsorship has never been something I am comfortable with, and whilst I have always been happy to support others I have always steered away from asking for money ...until as you may guess, now.
In October I will be doing an 130ft Abseil down a building in Portsmouth for a charity called Over The Wall. I initially signed up to just show my support and was going to donate my own money, but upon signing up I learnt I needed a minimum of £150 to enter. Which is hopefully where some of you may come in.
I have been volunteering for Over The Wall since 2005, for anyone who doesn't know, it's a beautiful little charity for children aged 8-17 affected with a serious or terminal illness, and also the siblings of these children. The charity runs week long camps during the holiday's, providing an opportunity for these children to escape the real world - the weeks I have spent on camp have been the best in my life, I can't express how much a different camp makes to these kids lives and how close OTW is to my heart - I am constantly inspired by the experiences I have had on camp and the incredibly brave, funny and gorgeous kids I have met. The camp is run by volunteers - this includes the Drs and Nurses that also give up their time - but the charity is also small and needs all the help it can get as the camps are very expensive to run. I promise from first hand experience that the money raised will be spent no where other than on ensuring that the children that attend have the time of their lives.
