Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As you will know 'Super' Ted was born over 10 weeks prematurely in February 2008 with an exomphalos major. From day one he was treated in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Edward was immediately stabilised and his care managed through an incredible team led by Surgeon, Michael Singh.
His prematurity made his case a complex one and the decision was made to conservatively manage his condition and close the exomphalos when he was older and stronger. That major decision was the right one and in June 2010, the process of preparing Edward for closure began.
Another amazing surgeon came on board to care for Edward, Plastic Surgeon Andrea Jester. Together his care eventually led to a remarkable closure of his exomphalos last week and incredibly Edward is now home and will, thanks to these Surgeons and their teams at Birmingham, be able to lead a healthy normal life.
Michael, Edward and I will be eternally grateful to all of the staff at the Children's Hospital and so as a gesture to thank the teams we would like to raise as much money as possible for funds suggested by the surgeons which include the Key Hole Surgery Fund.
So... in a moment of madness I have decided to abseil the 131ft down the mailbox in Birmingham on 12th February for this magnificent cause and for some crazy reason our close friend, Mark Cope has agreed to do it with me!! So please, please dig deep!
