Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having been a 'runner' for 4 years, and completed several half marathons, I have finally decided to take on the challenge of a fulI marathon, in Chicago on 10.10.10 (such a cool date I couldn't resist). I am now doing a 16 week training programme of tempo runs, speed sessions and long, longer and very long runs. I am slowly getting used to working out what carbs and proteins are for and that a curry and glass or two of wine on a Friday night just doesn't work!
To make all this effort worthwhile, I am running for the wonderful charity which I work for - The Children's Society. We work with children who are often forgotten or whose needs are ignored, such as young carers, traveller children or children whose parents are affected by alcohol or drug use.The aim is to take action to prevent, rescue and support children facing life trapped in a vicious circle of fear and harm.
Thank you so much for any donation you can make, it will all help make a difference. Your donation could enable somebody to be trained to listen to a victim of bullying in school. £10.00 could pay for a school starter pack for a refugee child, providing basic school equipment. £100.00 would allow 10 young carers to get a break from their responsibilities and enjoy themselves at the young carers festival £250.00 pays for 15 disabled children to have a day out at the seaside.
Thank you everyone, my wonderful family, friends and colleagues for your support and encouragement - it means so much to me and is much appreciated.
Finally, thanks to all at SevenoaksLadiesJoggers for being such a great group to run with and for making me think I can do it and to those who join me on runs, even if they sit and watch me run round the track - couldn't do it without you all :-)
Love Kathyxx
