Story
Ever since my mum completed her third marathon in London last year, I have become completely inspired to give it a go myself! Through witnessing her long and gruelling, physical and emotional training journey I was immensely proud when watching her cross the finish line – she really is one hell of a woman!
After thinking I was completely out of luck to represent a charity in this year’s London Marathon I struck gold and got a last minute place (end of January) with a fantastic charity! With such a narrow time frame to prepare I have set myself a massive challenge to complete the marathon, nonetheless in a half decent time (no pressure!). This is a huge personal goal of mine and I am really counting on the support of all of my friends and family to keep the motivation going.
However, that is only half of the battle! Where I really need your support is through fundraising. Of course this is a personal journey, but the main reason I am putting myself through this is to raise money for an extremely worthwhile charity.
I am running in aid of I CAN - the children’s communication charity. They are experts in helping children (from newborn – 19 years old) develop the speech, language and communication skills they need to thrive in a 21st century world. Their vision is a world where all children have the communication skills they need to fulfil their potential. Their mission is that no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding.
I would be so grateful to receive any donation, no matter how big or small as it’ll help me on my way to my £1800 target – and perhaps beyond! Before you hopefully reach into your virtual pocket I’ll mention a few different ways your hard-earned cash could help these children:
· Two specialist schools > children with severe and complex speech, language and communication difficulties are provided with a unique and supportive learning environment.
· Multi-disciplinary assessments > a fast-track to getting to the root of a child’s communication needs.
· Books & DVD’s > a range of engaging and developmental resources for practitioners and parents to use with their children.
It would mean the world to me if you could do anything to give me a hand!
Thank you so much!!
