Story
Hi everyone, its Kathryn here (aka KITKAT) I am 10 years old and I have taken on the challenge of swimming the width of the English Channel to raise money for Aspire - one of the UK's leading spinal injury charities.
Its a long way - 22miles which is 1416 lengths of the Kingsbridge Swimming Pool, but i have been training hard and with the support of my mum and dad, and my fantastic teachers at Kingfishers Swimming Club I am on target to complete it in 8 weeks!!!
The hardest bit has been the early morning swims on Sunday mornings but the best thing has been getting really fit and raising lots of money for such a special charity.
Progress so far:
After 5 weeks - 993 lengths! (5/11/10), even did 100 one day
1171 lengths (7/11/10)
Oh no Flu..... no swimming for a week
1201 Lengths (16/11/10) Only 30 but at race speed in club championships, new PB in 400m freestyle
1231 Lengths (18/11/10) Again racing, 30, but won my 200m freestyle, with a new PB
1285 Lengths (22/11/10) 54 with Dad
1319 Lengths (25/11/10) 34 racing again, 1st in my 100m freestyle, 1st in my 50m backstroke, and think 2nd in 200m individual medley..]
1353 Lengths (26/11), 34 today, only 63 lengths to go!!!
Finally finished, 1416 Lengths !, (4/12) delayed by snow
I am hoping to raise £500 plus, so please support me and donate here.
With lots of love Kathryn xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
