The Wainwright Walk is an annual event to raise money for the University of Exeter Community Legal Helpdesk.

The Helpdesk provides vital legal support and guidance to members of the public who are ineligible for legal aid but also unable to afford professional legal advice. It has been in operation since October 2011 and has provided assistance to over 140 people, representing a vast improvement in access to justice for the local community. The issues the volunteer caseworkers deal with are wideranging and often of a sensitive and emotive nature eg. housing or family related issues.

We can only predict that the workload of the Helpdesk will drastically increase after the imminent cuts to Legal Aid on 31st March 2013. As a result, the fundraising for the Wainwright Walk will prove essential for the CLH to remain open.

Any support you can give to this worthwhile cause will go a long way towards ensuring its continued growth and a sustainable future.
