Story
A few months ago my 7 year old son gave me £5.00 from his money box and said "I want to save a life". He had seen a short film on Comic Relief which had left him feeling sad that children in some parts of the world were dying because they didn't have clean water to drink. Something which we all take for granted here in the UK. He was willing to part with his hard-earned pocket money so he could save a life. This event made me feel very humble but also very proud of him.
It also got me thinking, I thought if my 7 year old son can save 1 life then how many lives could his 39 year old mother save? When my friend, Claire, announced she was walking from London to Brighton for charity my immediate reaction was "you're mad!" Then I realised this was my chance to save lives. I volunteered myself to join the team and here I am.
We now start the long journey of training and preparation for this gruelling 100km walk. Although we have 7 months in which to do this, we all know how quick the time goes! I don't think it has yet sunk in exactly what I have signed myself up for but I do know that I'm doing this for a wonderful cause and it will be worth every step.
Your support and donations will help to provide people in the poorest areas all over the world to have access to clean water. This will, literally, save lives. It will also inspire me to keep training and to keep pushing myself to complete this challenge.
