Story
Hello! Well, I had been planning on doing this on the quiet to be honest, but I am instead going to use my marathon to try and do something practically helpful in response to the unthinkable situation that has unfolded in Afghanistan over the last few weeks.
There are already reports that communities are being forced to "hand over" unmarried women who will be made to marry Taliban soldiers, women are being flogged for leaving the house without a chaperone when a few short days ago they were able to work, to study and to be safe in those spaces. Now the Taliban has taken Kabul and the president has fled there is no one to protect these women, they must be beyond terrified. The future is not only uncertain, it is violent and dangerous for them.
Women for Afghan Women has worked for over 20 years to protect and advance the rights of women in Afghanistan, and so if you are able to even spare £1, then they will be able to use it best to offer help in this crisis.
