Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Christine (my mum) contracted polio in 1933 at the age of 3, if I remember rightly, at Weymouth beach - her left leg was the worst affected part of her body and spent her whole life wearing a caliper and boot. This never stood in her way and she always told us that, as a child, if there was a tree to climb, she would climb it, much to the fear and distress of her mother and she carried this determination right through her life.
She married Michael in September 1954 and went on to have my brother in 1960 and adopted me in 1970 and was grandmother to three girls - a task she relished. She was a fabulous seamstress and could knit with her eyes closed, she also baked the best cakes. Fifteen years ago she had a heart valve replacement which gave her time to see her youngest granddaughter go from being a tiny baby to a teenager. Her and my Dad received two telegrams from the queen for 60 and 65 years of marriage.
Her passing leaves a huge hole in our family's lives and she will be sorely missed.
