Story
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of my Dad’s passing. He was only 39 when the pressures of life became too much for him to bear and the addiction demons took over and shut his body down.
That's why I've chosen AddAction as the charity I'm supporting for this challenge. They do incredible work in our society, especially as problems with addiction are growing at a huge rate as life becomes more and more difficult for some people to manage.
I could’ve gone sober for October, or maybe even done a dry January but, it’s me, and I like to go one step further to really push myself so for 12 weeks - 7th September to 30th November - not a drop of the liquidy goodness shall pass my lips. If you know me well, you’ll know this is a pretty big challenge as there’s nothing I enjoy more than a glass (ok, bottle) of wine after a hard day. Or for weekend fun. Or just because it’s Monday! Oh, and gin. Don’t forget gin.
I’d be over the moon if I can raise an average of 100 pounds a week and would ask as many people as possible to donate the cost of a pint per month - £15 in total. But obviously anything you can afford to donate will be very gratefully received. I’ll also keep you updated on my progress along the way and absolutely promise to stick to it - no excuses!
Huge thanks, as always, for whatever you can donate, every penny counts! X
