Thank you for visiting my justgiving page.
I am raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity dedicated to helping sufferers of the disease, and also dedicated to research towards a cure.
Just over two years ago, a man named Simon Adams died after a valiant struggle against MND. When he received his dreadful diagnosis, he made a bucket list, and achieved the vast majority of it, against staggering odds. His last goal was to raise £1,000,000 for MNDA in search of a cure. This goal is one which those of us who are left behind are able to strive towards, even now.
I wasn't lucky enough to meet Simon, but his memory lives on strongly in my friends at the OPM rugby club where Simon played, and of course in his wife Maxine, an amazing woman.
It is for the memory of Simon, for those who are living with MND now, and for those who will receive this devastating diagnosis in the future that I am running the London marathon and the Plymouth half marathon on 13th and 27th of April respectively.
Since I began fundraising for these, I have also signed up for other challenges, which take the distance I will travel to over 100 miles. The three biggest events to look out for are:
Virgin London Marathon
Rat Race - http://www.ratracedirtyweekend.com/
Tough Mudder - http://toughmudder.co.uk/events/south-west-2014/
My overriding goal is the same as Simon's - that in the future when a friend or loved one hears a doctor say 'I'm sorry, you have Motor Neurone disease', this will be followed immediately by the reassurance - 'but don't worry - there is a cure'.
Thank you all for your kind donations. I hope to see you on the other side of the races!
