Story
This is marathon attempt part 2! As you may remember, the NYC marathon was cancelled due to a hurricane, after training long and hard to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The NYC marathon is not only the best and most famous marathon in the world, it was also particularly personal to me as my dad completed it exactly 20 years ago at the time. He lost his life to cancer 18 months ago and is my main motivation for raising money for Macmillan.
Macmillan gave an amazing level of support throughout his illness, and have done so for many others whose lives are torn apart by cancer. Their nurses are inspirational and really make a difference. It is for all these reasons I am still running a marathon to warrant all of your generous donations. However, having realised the personal cost to do this in NYC again was not feasible, I have opted for the very famous and equally as glamorous...marathon of Chester (where I grew up)
So not only does this mean I have endured another gruelling period of training (crammed in to the last 12 weeks), I have downgraded from the 'worlds best and most famous' marathon to run through the dreary streets of Chester for 26 painful miles!
I would very much appreciate it if you can dig deep and donate as much as you can towards this very worthy cause. I can guarantee that they are an incredible charity - as anyone who has been affected by cancer will know.
