Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2016 I developed a pain in my lower back. I put this down to my cycling and running activities but despite a number of physio interventions could not shake off the pain which got worse and worse. Eventually I gave up and went to the doctor and was referred to a consultant rheumatologist.
Fortunately he quickly diagnosed secondary cancer of my spine and working with a breast surgeon identified the primary cancer which allowed the oncologist to put in place the appropriate drug therapy treatment plan for me. So within four weeks of diagnosis the Neurosurgery Department at Salford Royal had restored my ability to walk and my chemotherapy had started. As I write my breast tumours have practically disappeared and I am hoping to start running and cycling again in the next few weeks.
This has all been possible thanks to the Neurosurgery Department at Salford Royal Hospital and the work of the Breast Care Specialists at the Christie Hospital. Please support their vital work so that they can give more people the continued gift of active life.
