Story
So, I know, I know I said never ever a marathon yet here I am, the London Marathon! It’s going to be a challenge but I will be training hard and give it my very best.
The next thing to do was choose which charity to run for. I have chosen Liberty’s Legacy. Liberty sadly lost her life to bone cancer and lived locally to us.
Liberty was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in September 2016 on her 13th birthday, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. During her treatment, Liberty was an absolute inspiration, she got on with it bravely, rarely losing her amazing sense of humour. Sadly,in August 2017 the Ewing Sarcoma returned, but devastatingly it had extensively spread throughout her lungs and her lymph glands. Sadly, nothing more could be done.
It was during those few weeks of her life that the idea for Liberty's Legacy was born. Throughout the course of her illness Liberty's and her family's biggest frustration was the total lack of funding and research into this deadly form of the disease.
Liberty's greatest wish was that we fundraise in her name, with all proceeds to go towards Ewing Sarcoma so that no other child suffers in the same way and no other family be devastatingly ripped apart. Through Liberty's Legacy, we hope that her name will live on and allow us to bring Liberty into the future with us and give honour and meaning to her life.
This very tragic and inspirational story is my motivation for running this crazy distance. I will be training through the cold and dark winter months, I do hope this will appeal to your generous side.
All of my target £2500 will go towards Bone Cancer Research Trust. Despite being a small charity, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other UK organisation.
You can find a lot more information and resources on their website www.bcrt.org.uk.
I will also be planning cake sales, quiz nights over the coming months and would appreciate any support you can give.
Thanks so much for reading and hopefully your support.
