Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2020 when the world went into Lockdown I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure. Like my Mother and Brother before me this meant that I would need to have dialysis to stay alive and be put on the Kidney Transplant waiting list. In order to be eligible for a transplant you need to be fit and healthy so that your body is in the best possible position to be able to cope with the operation and sustain the new organ, and so began my fitness journey. I joined a local running club called the Foxy Ladies to complete their Learn to Run Course. Having not done any form of exercise for many years I struggled at first to even run for a couple of minutes but gradually over the course of 3 months I was able to build myself up to running 5k. Over the last few years I have had many stops and starts to my running journey due to various operations and kidney related illnesses but now I feel it is time to face my next challenge and have decided to set myself a goal of running a half marathon.
I have decided to run the half marathon for Kidney care and hope to raise lots of money to support a wonderful cause. Kidney Care is the leading kidney patient support charity providing advice, support and financial assistance to thousands every year. Kidney Care provides support for more than 100 patients every week and invests over £3 million each year in patient grants. They provide practical and emotional support, funding patient research projects and improving care services. They give total support to help improve the quality of life for everyone affected by kidney disease.
