Story
UPDATE:
Just before the lockdown, I had a feeling my pool is going to be shut down, so I did my 5K swim during a training session on 15th March. The lane was a bit busy like usually on Sunday, so it took me a whole 2h 3min to swim 5075m (at least that's what my watch has recorded).
I haven't swum since. As the lockdown commenced, I decided to move on and switch to different activities. I don't need an official proof that I can prepare to swim 5K, I don't need a medal to collect dust. But Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie still need fundraising. If you agree with this, you still have time to support the cause!

I do not have any touching backstory to tell. In fact, I am a very fortunate person. If only life was fair to everyone...
Cancer can occur at any age, to anyone. No one ever wants to hear such a diagnosis. However, the survival rate keeps growing thanks to charities like Cancer Research UK.
Swimathon 2020 is an opportunity to raise money to help this charity and the event happens to coincide with my birthday!
If you are my friend I know for sure that you wouldn't hesitate to buy a small round for me and you in a pub for a tenner. This year I would like to ask you to use that amount (or more if you are able) for something that can make a difference in peoples lives. Together we can raise money to fight cancer by research and support nurses who provide care to people when it is needed the most.
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through funding research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Their vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families.
Thank you!
