Story
Hi All,
Welcome to my page!!!
I have decided to raise money for a charity extremely close to my heart…The Alzheimer’s Society.
The Ben Nevis Challenge/Trek will involve conquering Britain’s highest peak over the course of 2 days, from the 20th May – 22nd May 2011.
My Grandad Terry Stephens (Beloved Bampi) sadly passed away on New Year’s Eve 2010 after suffering a long battle with Dementia. My Bampi was a wonderful man who suffered such a cruel disease. Up until 5 years ago my Bampi was a very active man who had worked all of his life. He used to exercise regularly and eat healthy (although he did enjoy the odd pint!!!) My Bampi slowly but surely began to forget, his condition worsened a few years ago and he deteriorated even more, until he could no longer walk or talk. Terry Stephens was a fantastic Husband, Father and Bampi. He will be sorely missed by all but never ever forgotten.
One in three people over the age of 65 will die with dementia and Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 750,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia. Research shows that in just 15 years nearly a million people will be living with dementia. So please dig deep into your pockets and help prevent this from happening.
I am very excited about the challenge ahead of me and it’s great to know that every mile I climb will help support people living with dementia.
The money raised will go towards helping those who have lost a loved one deal with this horrific disease. All donations will also help The Alzheimer's Society research programme, which provides funding for research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia to improve treatment for people today and to search for a cure for tomorrow.
I need to raise a minimum of £500 so all donation’s would be much appreciated. However, I would love to reach £1,000.
I would really appreciate it if you would sponsor me as little or as much as you can afford, after all every penny helps!
Thank you in advance
Karis Jones
