“Personal action creates an energy of hope, which not only expands us as individuals but deepens our bonds with the rest of humanity.” Lynne Franks
Dear friends and family,
This coming October I will be trekking to Everest base camp in Nepal in support of Women for Women International. This remarkable charity provides women in war-torn countries with the necessary tools and resources to break the circle of crisis and poverty, empowering them to rebuild their lives.
I want to play my part in creating a sustainable and positive future for women whose lives have been devastated by war, violence and rape. This expedition is my way to raise awareness and much needed funds for Women for Women International and I am personally committed to raise US$ 7000.
I am funding the entire cost of my trek so that every dollar, pound or euro you can generously contribute will go directly towards WfW life-changing programmes.
Joining an all-ladies international team, this trek will be an extraordinary journey about friendship and sisterhood both within our group and as we connect with and support these courageous women, mothers, and wives. It will also be a fulfilling journey of personal development as I face my own particular physical and mental challenges on this demanding trek. (As most of you know, I have always been the one trading a trip to the gym for a coffee with friends so you will appreciate how much of a physical challenge this will be for me).
This 2 weeks climb will start from the city of Lukla, through the Khumbu Valley, to culminate at Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters - 17,598ft). There we will plant prayer flags designed by the children in our communities and carrying messages of hope for peace in the World.
Being able to make a difference is something that I have carried around in my heart for a long time. Today, I have found a cause worth acting for and I am asking you to join me.
Your support would mean a lot to me and those women's future, making every efforts to climb those 2,500 meters worthwhile.
Thank you for your generosity.
Karine

Women for Women International
Since 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) has worked to provide women survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts with resources to move from crisis and poverty into stability and self-sufficiency.
WfWI delivers these resources through a tiered, year-long program that begins with direct financial aid and emotional support. Participants also learn about their legal rights; receive life-skills training such as health awareness, numeracy, budgeting and saving, decision-making and negotiation, and civic participation; learn business and vocational skills; and gain access to income-generating activities where they can apply those skills and begin moving towards economic stability. Through their one-year programmes, women become confident, independent and productive. They embrace the importance of their roles in rebuilding their families, their communities and ultimately their nations.
Along with helping more than 351,000 women in the past 20 years to rebuild their own lives and those of their families and communities after war, WfWI uses its voice to call global attention to the unique role that women play in advancing peace throughout society.
