My father, like countless others, suffered from dementia. He became totally deaf, unable to speak and became almost totally isolated from others as a result. It is only thanks to his lovely personality and the superb care that he received from others that his quality of life was not completely lost. The research that UCL is involved in may help reduce the impact of dementia in future sufferers, perhaps even find a way to combat it altogether.
