I have been a trustee for Malvern Community Action for 8 years, helping this local charity to support older people in my community lead independent lives.

I have run several half marathons, taken part in colour runs and hikes, and even run a 50Km ultra marathon, all to raise money.

But this challenge is THE BIG ONE!

Trekking to the highest point in Africa  at 5895 metres, that's 17 British Camps of elevation!  Or almost 6 Mount Snowdons high...

To say I am concerned about this is an understatement.

It's Malvern Community Actions 50th year of serving the locality.  A big celebration of their good work is required.

I intend to carry a flag from the charity with me to the very summit of Africa, along with my walking poles, cold weather gear and a lot of water.
