Story

In 6 months' time I will be beginning the toughest challenge that I have ever voluntarily signed up to…………….On the 28th August 2013 I will be beginning my climb up Mt Kilimanjaro!!! Please please please help me to raise funds for helen rollason cancer care as part of this huge challenge ahead, I am so excited to be doing this but also a little scared. XXxxx

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When Sarah first mentioned about climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in memory of her mum Corinne 10 months ago, my first thoughts were that she was crazy. Having completed an event in Scotland and discovering that I absolutely hated walking up hills, I wondered if she really knew what she was getting herself in to!

As the months passed and 2012 played out to be a particularly challenging year personally, I forgot about her wacky plan and honestly believed it was a passing thought. Then the email arrived! Sarah was climbing this beast of a mountain with or without any of her closest friends taking every gruelling step with her. As I read her thoughts as to what this meant to her, I thought back to what an inspiration Corinne had been to me, at times, I practically lived in their home and was always treated as part of the family. Looking back now I think our school girl conversations which must have kept her amused, but she always offered out advice and hugs when needed when silly boys had made us cry or whatever the latest source of upset was that week!! This is definitely a trait that Corinne has installed into Sarah and with my never ending list of dramas; I definitely keep her busy, I often think that I am hearing Corinne’s words of wisdom via her daughter.

So then a decision had to be made, to climb, or not to climb............................................ It was never going to be a difficult one. How could I let one of my oldest and closest friends undertake this massive adventure alone. And also, selfishly, I feel I need to undertake some soul searching and rid a few demons from 2012, a much needed adventure to put life into perspective. So, Kili here we come!

Here is Sarah's fundraising page too, this made me, the girl who doesn’t cry, shed a few tears so be prepared to reach for the tissues - http://www.justgiving.com/sarahcorinnefay

The full extent of what we are doing will not hit me until we are there. I am sure by the end of this I will still HATE walking up hills, Sarah will know when to feed me to stop me getting grouchy and we would have had a few minor disagreements and shed quite a few tears along the way, but if we can raise this enormous amount for a charity which means so much to so many people, especially those that mean so much to me, every step will be worthwhile.

So please give generously. Every penny really does help and would be much appreciated.

MANY MANY MANY THANKS for all your support
