Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer through a routine mammogram. I was told my cancer was set quite far back and as I am also HER2 positive then it would be fast growing and if it wasn’t for the mammogram then it may have been too difficult to treat by the time I felt the lump.
The news came at a particularly difficult time, my husband had been made redundant and was prevented from training for his new job as the pandemic was at its peak. We had also just lost a very dear member of the family.
I had a lumpectomy just before Christmas, which I had to travel to Swindon for (again pandemic knock on affects). Throughout 2021 I had chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Unfortunately due to covid restrictions, I had to attend my diagnosis, surgery and radiotherapy alone.
I had to shield for about 6 months and Maggie’s were there for me and my family. We had virtual catch ups, virtual yoga, virtual hair and beauty sessions (how to protect your fragile hair/use head scarves, draw your eyebrows back on, nurture your nails etc) and even will writing services. All of which were free!
Thankfully, I am in remission now and want to give something back and so I have very scarily taken up this challenge and would appreciate any support for this event.
