Story
Victoria was recently raped by her "friend" of 8 years. She is on the waiting list to have counselling with Nexus to process the incident. She believes this is an incredibly important service and all people, of all economic circumstance (therapy is expensive), should be able to access these services. She also has incredibly wonderful, genuine friends that will do things like zipline for charity although they're horrifically terrified of heights. Nexus's services are free and are funded by your donations. Currently there is a 3 month waiting list for survivors to access regular counselling (6 months if you need an evening appointment). Please give what you can to continue this incredibly important work (and maybe speed up them waiting times!), and to reward Karen for being such an amazingly brave and selfless human being. Thank you.
Sexual violence, abuse and exploitation can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. The impact is devastating; it can isolate individuals, fragment families and leave lifelong shame and a false sense of blame. Nexus has a vision of a society free from the trauma of sexual violence, by working with survivors to help them rebuild their lives and by raising awareness of sexual abuse and its consequences among professionals and the general public.
