Ok, I've never done anything like this before so please bear with me while I try to explain why I've decided to join Marie and Lucy and all the other fundraisers on Saturday 25 June 2016 to support St Barnabas House.

My friend Kate was given the job of training me on my first day on Reception at Shirley High School back in May of 1997.  I soon found out just what a lovely, witty, kind person Kate is and how lucky I was to be working with her.  Kate wasn't just a work colleague and before I knew it I felt included in all of the special moments in Kate's life, as she became involved in mine! Especially the day that Delboy walked into my life!

I needn't have worried that we'd lose touch when Kate and Steve moved to the South Coast and we've spent many a happy hour in their garden or conservatory eating cake with friends and family since they've been there.

I feel that Kate and Steve have always given me so much of their time over the years that the very least I can do is support Marie and Lucy in their efforts to raise much needed funds for St Barnabas who, I understand, have been superb in supporting our lovely Kate and the whole family these past few months! 

A very deserving cause I think you will agree?  So dig as deep as you can for me please, (if not for me, then please do so for Kate).
