Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the past couple of years I've gone from swimming a few lengths in the pool to swimming in lakes and rivers and now the sea. The distance I swim has got further and the water has got colder. I love a challenge. I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone. This is very much a challenge and very much out of my comfort zone.
The event will be tough. I have to overcome the elements, sea sickness, cramps, darkness and tiredness to name just a few.
My training will start on 22nd October. I've got to start swimming in open water with just my swimming costume, hat and goggles....no wetsuit for protection. This is a requirement for the Channel swim. Lots of cold winter dips are on the cards to aclimatise to the conditions we will face. The training is hard and will be time consuming.
I have to do a pre swim qualifier which is 2 hours of solid swimming in water no more than 15 degrees.
I'm prepared to put in the hard work, face the cold water, the sea sickness, possible jelly fish stings and anything else thrown at me because Little Havens has touched my heart.
I am part of a team. A great team. Six of us are on this journey together. We are members of JBR Run and Tri Club who are behind us all the way. Also Chalkwell Redcaps who will give us the oppertunity to do the winter swims with them. Everyone is as determined as each other to get to France from Dover between 30th June and 7th July 2017. We are all giving up time and putting in a lot of effort to complete our journey.
Little Havens is a beautiful place inside and out. Please donate if you can. The thought of the generosity of my family and friends will get me through when the going gets tough. Thank you so much for taking time to read this. I'll love you forever if you can give a little too. X
