Story
Back in December I saw an advert that changed everything. It said raise funds to fight breast, cervical and ovarian cancers by cycling 350k across Tanzania. I didn't really read the detail, I just knew I wanted to do it!!
20 years ago, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. As I sat there listening to the outcome, I couldn't believe how unfair life seemed to be. Mum had suffered from so many illnesses, starting with rhumatoid arthritus aged 26, this was just another one to fight: but fight she did!! Ten years later, my maternal grandmother was also diagnosed. So having survived herself, my mum had to help her own mother through. Mum said this was the only illness that left her feeling less of a woman because of the surgery. I don't want any woman to ever feel like that, so for all those mums, nans, sisters and nieces please help me to raise money to fight these cancers.
Both mum and nan are no longer here, but I know they would be so proud that I was doing something positive to help other women.
I'm not a cyclist. The most I've ever cycled is 20 miles on the Camel trail, and that took all day!! So this is no holiday, just a life affirming commitment to help.
The trip will take 5 days to travel from Killimanjaro to Ngorongoro, passing through 3 national parks on the way. It will be a great experience to not only achieve the ride, but to know that between the women taking part, we will have raised in excess of £300,000 for the 3 charities.
