Story
As a lot of you know I caught the running bug about 12 months ago, I started off doing a bit of running to help hockey fitness. It’s all I ever intended to do but I’ve gone from saying 10k is “a nice distance, I wouldn’t want to run any further” to “I think I’ll give a half marathon a go”!! I can’t quite explain it because I think I’m slightly crazy for doing it but something in me wants to give the marathon a go. I’ve heard from so many people that London is an incredible one to do so in April 2018 I’m going to find out for myself! It’s not going to be easy, training will be a long, tough process especially during the winter months but I’m going to be running for a great cause.
There are so many amazing charities out there, I’ve chosen to raise money for St John Ambulance. I think the work they do can often go unnoticed and underappreciated. They attend a huge variety of events across the country looking after the public, from horse shows to car festivals and summer/winter solstice. They also provide first aid training in schools and in the community so the general public are armed with first aid knowledge that could potentially save a life.
My mum volunteers for St John Ambulance in Wiltshire, I’ve heard first-hand about all the events they attend and different scenarios they are faced with. The training the volunteers receive is fantastic, they are
encouraged to develop their skills and it is done in a really supportive
environment. When my mum started she used to faint at the sight of blood!! She is now able to remain on two feet and help!
Any donation small or large is greatly appreciated and will keep me going as I experience every kind of emotion whilst pounding 26.2miles through the streets of London on the 22nd April 2018!!
