Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My first thoughts on abseiling down the Forth Rail Bridge for the SSPCA was 'spew!!! no thanks' Then within 30 seconds i decided i will make myself do it. I had spent the previous day admiring the brave actions of a special young girl and figured if she can conquer her fears then so can I.
Heights, as a general rule, are not my mate. I feel physically sick at the thought, and get sweaty hands when i see someone standing on a building edge on TV. So this is my chance to rid myself of the fear and raise money for Scottish animals in need at the same time.
On a regular basis, i see SSPCA posts of dog/cat/rabbit of the week on my Facebook newsfeed and it breaks my heart i can't give them a home. My wee flat is full with family and Molly the hair shedding Golden Retriever along with part time resident, old man Jack...the Jack Russell!
Loyal, giving and beautiful animals need our help through no fault of their own. Yes charity begins at home, but if every one of my 242 Facebook friends sponsored me just £1, i would raise a fantastic amount! Providing i manage to raise £150 which is the requirement for doing the event, i will be happy but if i can smash that then all the better!
If you want to see where your money goes look at my photograph. The SSPCA have given me permission to use this material. This story goes along with the photograph of Honey posted on the SSPCA page. This wasn't put on to upset people, but to tell the story of how your money is used. I couldn't have put those words quite so eloquently.
"Many of you will remember Honey, the extremely thin and injured lurcher we rescued after she was found on Ayr Beach in January. Today we’re over the moon to bring you a happy ending to Honey’s story. This remarkable and brave girl was extremely frightened and needed urgent veterinary care when we rescued her. Two months later, thanks to lots of TLC from our vets and rehoming team at our Glasgow centre, Honey now has a loving new home with Pat, David and Sandy. We know you’ll be as delighted as we are to see Honey fully recovered from her terrible ordeal. Just look at how happy she is, quie rightly beaming with pride with her new family! Huge thanks to all of our supporters, who help us save lives and make rescues and stories like Honey’s possible. And all of our very best wishes to Honey and her new family :-)"
