Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My sister has had type 1 diabetes for 43 years. Over the course of my lifetime, I have seen firsthand the amazing changes that have happened through research for this disease. JDRF has been a major part of funding this research. From crude blood sugar testing and awkward insulin dosing in the 1960s to now a continuous glucose monitor and an insulin pump, my sister has benefitted every step of the way from JDRF. I would like to JDRF to continue helping people just like my sister for years to come.
Runners are generous people. They also know persistence, perseverence and patience. Over the course of many races: 5-Ks, half marathons and marathons, I have seen many runners raise money for charity to finally culminate in the race. My goal was to run for charity at some point and when the opportunity to run the London Marathon for JDRF came along, I couldn't pass up marrying two things near to my heart.
As a pediatrician, I tell new diabetics that they can live long and healthy lives with this disease. It is no longer a death sentence.
Please know that your donation goes right to JDRF and not to my expenses. Though it is through the U.K. chapter because of the marathon being in London, this donation funds research worldwide.
