Story
I'm doing this trek in memory of my husband Tim who passed away in January 2009 after having a brain tumour.
To those of you who know me will think I have gone mad as this is oh so not me or in my character but I felt I had to do something to help the hospice after all of the care they gave to Tim and to myself whilst Tim was in Compton.
Tim coped with having a brain tumour for nearly three years and in the later months he also lost his eyesight from the radiotherapy he had under taken to try to keep the tumour at bay. He was only in the hospice for a few months but the care he received was outstanding. I was going to take part in a Mount Etna triple volcano challenge until this was cancelled, so I decided to take part in a trek on the Great Wall Of China in October 2009. I will be walking around 60 miles over 8 days with plenty of steps to contend with. I have been training and met some wonderful people so far with their own reasons for walking.
