Story
As Christmas fast approaches, Ian is never far from mine and the children's thoughts. Those who knew Ian, will remember his thirst for life, his selfless and caring attitude and his love for his beautiful children. Ian absolutely loved Christmas, seeing it through the eyes of his children, the only gift he desired was the happiness and excitement of his children at this time of year. I always joked that he was my fifth child, up at 2am every Christmas morning cooking the dinner to pass the time after I had refused his request to wake the children this early to watch their excitement as they crept down the stairs to see if Sion Corn had been.
This year, the children are finding Christmas tough. We have survived the first Christmas without him. We enjoyed the second as much as possible with him at the forefront of our mind. However, this year they are ready to grieve and emotions have been running high.
This year they haven't asked for a single gift, instead they would like to honour Ian's memory and have asked to raise money for Ty Olwen the hospice that provided the upmost compassion to us all in his final weeks.
Obviously with Ian's blood running through their veins, the children would like to partake in something utterly crazy. They would like to take part in the Walrus dip at Cefn Sidan beach in Pembrey on boxing day morning with myself, their cousin Taran, my sisters Rachel and Eirlys and their friend Aedin.
It's no secret our babies love the sea, often out adventuring at beautiful beaches, paddleboarding and soaking up the sunshine. However, to run into a baltic sea in December takes guts and stupidity. I know only too well how cold it is, having undertaken the same task many, many years ago.
Please help support their desire to honour their Dadi this Christmas. We appreciate at this time of year finances are tight for all of us, exemplified by the inflation costs upon us. Therefore, we have set the limit low and welcome any help, from a small donation to a kind share. Thank you in advance.
