Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 22nd September 2021 my lovely hubby, Martin, died from bowel cancer which had spread to his bones while he was undergoing chemotherapy. Ironically, the chemo had worked well in shrinking the primary tumour, but we were told that his cancer was terminal in April 2021, shortly after his 51st birthday. Martin said that he wanted funeral donations to go to Cancer Research because, in his words, "research is the only thing that will stop people like me from dying".
Last year, myself and Kai ran Chester marathon in support of The Hospice of the Good Shepherd who cared for Martin for the last few weeks of his life, and Kai is running Chester Marathon again in October in support of the hospice. But, I wanted to support Cancer Research because I want to honour Martin's hope that research will help prevent many deaths from cancer, in particular of those people who are taken way too early in life.
Getting a place for London was so unexpected as I know people who have tried for years and never been successful in the ballot. However, fate has given me this opportunity and I will complete every emotional mile with Martin right beside me in spirit.
Thank you for all your support,
Karen xx
