Some would say a $30 membership is nominal. However, we know that for some families there is no nominal fees, rather fees can be a monumental financial barrier. Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes will pay the membership fee to GSUSA to remove any financial barriers to participation, plus additional costs that a family could incur through participation in Girl Scouts. We believe the Girl Scout opportunity should be available to all girls no matter their circumstance. Every Girl Scout, new or returning, has the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts through our financial assistance program. Our Council provides support for membership, program and camp fees, troop dues and uniform costs for any girl who needs it. Girls can be part of as many or as few programs as they wish.
