Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In January 2007 my Mum was diagnosed with skin cancer. After
7 months of operations and treatment, the cancer spread to other organs, and just 6 months later on 19 July 2007, aged 66 years, Mum passed away.
As 2017 is the 10th anniversary of Mum’s death, I thought it would be the perfect time to tackle a challenge in order to raise money for Hospiscare, who were extremely supportive when Mum died. So in August Mike and I will be cycling approximately 1000 miles from Lands' End to John O’Groats, with Pedal Nation Bicycle Tours, over 14 days.
Before I embark on LeJog, I thought I’d also do The Big Welsh Swim in July, Llanberis, Snowdonia, North Wales. This will be a 3-way swim totaling 9k and will probably take me a fair while (about 4 hours?!).
I am excited to be taking part in these events, and would love it if you were able to support me by donating a few pennies (or pounds!)
to Hospiscare in Mum’s memory. We also had another family berearment in January this year when my son’s wife, Babette, died just 1 week after being diagnosed with cancer. Then in April Mike lost his Mum as well.
Life can deal some cruel blows so I think it is important to live life to the full and do as much as you are able to whilst enjoying every moment you have – we never know when our time will be up.
Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your support – it means a lot.
