We help people with ME/CFS to understand and survive their illness

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2018 my sister Julie was diagnosed with ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome having struggled with symptoms for 18 months.  Living with me/cfs has been life changing for her because she was always active, fit and healthy so receiving this news at 46 was devastating.

She has often had to rely on mobility aids and will regularly have to spend days in bed because the smallest exertion can leave her mentally and physically exhausted.  Since her diagnosis, she has amazed me with her positive attitude and has instead focused on what she has been able to control which has helped her to maintain a positive approach to the condition.

She remains forever hopeful that research will support a cure and that a diagnostic tool will also be found to identify ME/CFS as early as possible.

For these reasons that I will be walking a distance of 25miles/40.2km with a combined climb of 7,063ft/2,153m for the ME Association within 12 hours on Friday 28th May. Raising awareness and funds to support the research into investigating the potential causes and treatments for all ME patients living with this life changing condition.

Thank you for supporting me.

The ME Association campaigns hard to get ME recognised as a severe neurological illness. Our helpline provides essential information and support to adults and children who have ME/CFS, and to their families and carers. We also fund biomedical research into the physical nature and causes of ME/CFS.
