Story
Thank you to everyone for your support :)
Kal Tire MTG participated in The Outlaw Triathlon which took place on July 7th, 2013 at the National Water Sport Centre, Nottingham.
This long distance event involved the challenge of a 2.4 mile swim - 112 mile bike and a final 26.2 mile run, all in support of Cancer Research UK.
With two teams participating, Kal Tire team members included Chris, Pete, Ollie, Darren, Lisa and Jason.
Competing for a cause...
“It seemed like a good idea at the time,” was how UK Managing Director Darren Flint explained his decision to enter two teams in the 2013 Outlaw Ironman Triathlon. After Lisa approached him with the idea, the search began for two three-person teams.
After months of training, both teams were tested far beyond their limits as race day temperatures reached 29ºC. The Kal Tire Boot Team and Kal Tire Triers got off to a 6am start with Darren and Lisa making the 2.4-mile swim. Ollie and Pete were up next for the 112-mile cycling leg. The 26.2 mile marathon was run by Jason and Chris.
The Triers finished 14th out of 75 teams, while the Boot Team made a late surge past KPMG to end up 60th. However, the only number that truly mattered was the over £55,000 raised for Cancer Research.
Well done Kal Tire and to all who took part!
