Last year, I ran the London Marathon and it almost broke me.  During the race, I hit the infamous wall, missed seeing Zareena (my wife) and sons (Haris and Hyder).  I also clocked a time of 5 hours which was slower than I had hoped.

Though the achievement of completing my first ever marathon should have been a euphoric and joyful experience, it was tainted.

Much of this was my fault.  I was plagued early on in training with achilles tendonitis and this meant that training was far from ideal. I ran about half the miles that one should during training and arrived at the start-line underprepared.  I did not deserve to do well and while I completed the race, I was reluctant to talk about it through the subsequent months.

The day after the marathon, my eldest son said to me "Dadda, we didn't see you in the marathon."  I wept inside. My mind was made up.  I would make sure I was on the start line of the London Marathon 2017, I would strive to train better, I would get a better time and I would make sure to see my wife and boys this time.

This year is about redemption.

Action on Hearing loss do amazing work to help people with deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss live the life they choose.

As many of you will know, my eldest sister - Chanda is profoundly deaf and I have witnessed the effects of deafness first-hand all my life.  I have also seen the great work that Action on Hearing loss have done.

With your help, support and generosity - over £3000 pounds was raised for Action on Hearing Loss last year.  We can do it again!!!!
